Kids Run Reading: Operation 26.2 (Grades K-8)

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

Kids Run Reading: Operation 26.2 is a self-directed program that promotes healthy exercise habits, goal setting and a sense of accomplishment, all while having fun with family and friends!  Starting in October and over the course of 26 weeks, kids will run the distance of a marathon (26.2 miles), tracking their own distance along the way and participating in a Final Mile Celebration in April.

All registered participants will receive a running log to keep track of their distances, mileage tokens for all the big milestones along the way, as well as an Operation 26.2 t-shirt and finisher medal at the Final Mile Celebration.  Kids Run Reading is a volunteer-driven program.  When you register your child, please consider volunteering some of your time as well!  Any help is much appreciated!

How it works??

Get out and run!  Go for family walks, run with a family member or friend, participate in a school running club, or walk to school - every mile counts!  Participants can run/walk distances as small as 1/4 mile at a time, recording their distance in a mileage log along with way.

Participate in seasonal, weather appropriate, running activities with other Operation 26.2 participants that will count toward the mileage goal.

Run the Final Mile together with all the other registered participants and celebrate your major accomplishment!
